We are certainly getting into the rhythm of vacation: sleeping late (if you call 8:30am late?), recreating, swimming, eating and sleeping some more. Today after breakfast, Josh left for a ride. Unfortunately, the roads were not well-marked and he rode about 45km further than he had intended. The perils of cycling!
At 9:45, the big show was set to begin. Of course, it didn't actually begin until 10pm. There was excitement in the air at the amphitheater The musical was fun to watch. The leads were all performed by the camp counselor's while the kids were in the supporting roles. The costumes were adorable. Charlotte was a cheerleader and Olivia was one of the geeks. The girls were clearly having a ball performing in the show. Avery, Josh and I were having almost as much fun watching.
The kids participated in club activities in the morning. Then we had lunch together (senza Josh who was still trying to make his way back). The girls joined their club friends for the after-lunch movie, while Avery swam in the pool with Josh once he was back from riding. I retreated to our bungalow for a rest (a rest from what you ask? I have no idea, I've never had so much rest in my life). Later, I would go swim in the sea and look for shells with Olivia. Charlotte attended the last rehearsal for tonight's spectacolo, and Josh and Avery napped.
It was our last night at dinner, and chilled half lobsters were served. Desert was gelato in an edible waffle dish; everyone was happy. We tried singing Happy Birthday to Charlotte, but she was having none of it. Earlier, they'd already put cake in her face at the kids club. Today was another girl's birthday but they used the opportunity to celebrate Charlotte's too.
Everyone was introduced and took a bow after the show. Olivia and Charlotte got a special "shoutout" being from Chicago, and Charlotte was also recognized for her birthday tomorrow. All the kids received medals for their performances. It was midnight. I had one tired boy walking back to our bungalow (no more golf carts operating). The girls still had to change out of their costumes and, once back in the room, had to wash the make-up off their faces. It had been a ball; and now we all passed out from fatigue.
