Today, we went to the Piazza Navona for the carnival that takes over the entire square until after Christmas. It was 60 degrees. Balmy. An absolutely beautiful day. Therefore, even though we do not arrive in Egypt until tomorrow, the warm weather in Rome is advancing Josh's string of birthdays spent in balmy climes. The kids each played a carnival game -- everyone but Olivia lost -- and Avery rode the merry-go-round. It was a beautiful day and nice to be out at a carnival in central Rome on Josh's birthday.
We came home from lunch and I cooked up a Rombo fish. Rombo are these large flattish, funny looking, pancake like fish, but boy are they tasty. After lunch we needed to finish packing for our trip. Can't forget to pack the sunscreen, meds, wipies, hand sanitizer and band-aids! While Avery napped and Charlotte swam, Olivia and I baked a birthday cake: chocolate with cinnamon and powdered sugar on top.
Tonight we went out for Pizza -- Josh's request. Unfortunately, Avery was not really interested in sitting at the table; he seemed to want to spend more time under it. Therefore, Josh's (actual) birthday dinner was probably not one he wants to remember. Back at home, we lit the candles and sang Happy Birthday -- senza Avery, who was banished to his room for poor behavior. Turns out the chocolate cake in a box is really good :)
