A repeat picture-perfect day. And a repeat morning. After breakfast, we sunned, swam and soaked in the views. We checked out of our hotel around 1pm and took the famous Amalfi coast drive to Ravello, stopping along the way for photo opps.
When we arrived in Ravello about an hour later, we found the restaurant that had been recommended for lunch. I
suppose it’s all relative but it was our worst meal of the trip. The good news is that it was served quickly (is the tastiness of the food directly correlated to the time in which it takes to prepare it?) So we had ample time to enjoy Ravello. We visited the Villa Rufalo (home to the Ravello Festival of summer concerts) and the Villa Cimbrone, the later of which has the most spectacular vistas of the entire coast. Both of these palazzos have really lovely gardens. We then walked back to the Piazza for a coffee break -- except I had mine in the form of a gelato. The visit to Ravello was a wonderful way to cap off our weekend on the Amalfi coast.
We hit the road. Along the way, I realized I left my cosmetics case at the hotel; and Josh confirmed it had been found. Now I wonder how long it will take before I get it back in Rome? The drive took just over 3 hours, and we actually got back to Rome an hour before we were expected. It was dinner time, so for the first time, Josh and I went to Pariolina for pizza WITHOUT the kids. Relaxing in Rome -- this too was a nice way to finish off our weekend away.
