Olivia's swim meet

Hot! It has been scorching hot, but in a mediterranean kind-of way. Today, I took the kids to school before running some errands around the neighborhood. Then, I went on a bike ride. I rode through Villa Borghese, and around in centro. We signed up Olivia and Avery for a week of camp at the Bioparco; I stopped by to see about making a payment. But apparently, they aren't taking any money yet.

I rode home through the park and then Josh and I ate lunch in the garden. He was feeling pretty good in the morning, but by the afternoon, he had significant pain in his leg.

I hit the market before picking the kids up at school. Olivia had a swim meet today, and I decided that Charlotte should accompany her to show support for her younger sister. God only knows Olivia has sat through countless meets of Charlotte's. Still, Charlotte whined that it was too hot and she didn't want to go. When will this self-centeredness ever end?

So, I dropped Avery off at home, and then the three of us girls headed out to the Green Hill Club for the swim meet. The meet was only for the younger kids -- kids born in 2001 and 2002 swam in Olivia's section. Olivia swam the 25 Breast and won her heat -- by a lot. Her stroke looked great and she was very happy with her swim. We waited around for the awards ceremony, thinking Olivia may have snuck into a bronze medal, but she finished fourth overall by just 0.3 seconds. In the end, I think Charlotte had a fun time at the meet too. She took pictures and video of Olivia's race, and spent time with a friend of hers from the team (a teammate who also came to cheer on a younger sibling).

We drove home for dinner after having ice cream at the Green Hill Club. Josh was not feeling well; Avery was super tired and I tried to make it an early evening myself.
