Movie night

I can't say where the day went, but I did learn a lot about the island of Sardinia. Of course, I am referring the project that I began last week in thinking about how to spend our summer. While it is an island, I am intrigued with Sardinia because it is topographically, socio-economically, and culturally diverse. Therefore, if one is to rent a place, it's not easy to determine where one would like to situate oneself. The island is 300km from top to bottom -- and that is as the crow flies -- so if you're in the North, you stay in the North; if you're on the South, you stay in the South, etc.

I also discovered that the ferry ride from Civitavecchia is overnight, takes about 7 1/2 hours, and if you're taking a vehicle, requires significant advance booking. When I told Josh the ferry has sleeping berths, he cringed. However, the photos look a little nicer than the cabins on the Egyptian overnight train!

Besides spending hours on the internet, I worked out in the morning and went grocery shopping. Last night, we opened our first spoiled bottle of wine - a chardonnay, no less. And, while I am gaining confidence in my Italian, I enlisted Josh for the process of taking the bottle back to the store. He came back with another bottle, same wine...we'll shall see.

Tonight, we went to the Metropolitan to see our second movie out in five months: Up in the Air. While the reviews were mixed, the subject matter was familiar and we found the movie highly entertaining. While we went out, we left Olivia and Avery watching Stuart Little on the "big screen" at home.
