Today I take a break from (extensive) blogging. As we ventured out from our villa this morning, not a soul could be seen in the Parioli. Store fronts were all shuttered, grocery stores and gas stations all closed. We went to check out the horses at the Villa Glori and the kids all had a pony ride. Like a live merry-go-round as they took 4 laps of the corral. It was Avery's first time on "pony-back" and he loved it. The girls were a little more bored.
Late afternoon, we drove into town and went to see the Pantheon. A true architectural marvel even today (and it was erected in 31BC). Of course the kids wanted to go back to the Fontana di Trevi (or the Trippy Fountain as it is affectionately referred to by Avery), but unlike our evening soujourn last time at the Fountain, this was day time and the crowds dense. We are looking forward to having this place more to ourselves in a few short months.
Needless to say, we stopped for a gelato. This has become a daily event - at least this last week of vacation. Tomorrow is the first day of school. The uniforms are laid out. The morning alarm will be most unwelcome.
